Taking its name from the eponymously titled novel by Octavia E. Butler, Wild Seed brings together a dynamic group of art and design objects, which—akin to the main character’s story of survival, resilience, growth, and new alliances— celebrate the ingenuity, endurance, and flexibility essential to sustaining a creative practice. The exhibition explores such intertwined themes as gender and the body, fine art and craft, and architecture as a lens that structures experience.

Presented within a Hollywood home turned architecture studio, the Wild Seed unfolds in an intimate, domestic-style environment that invites slower, more contemplative engagement with the pieces on view. Contemporary artworks, fashion designs, furniture, and vintage design objects coexist throughout the space, dissolving boundaries between disciplines and encouraging a more fluid dialogue across art, design, and architecture.

The exhibition features work by Øystein Aasan, Amanda Browder, Zach Bruder, Ariel Dill, DUSK, Jay Erker, Kathryn Garcia, Harbison Studio, Pamela Jorden, Travis Krupka, Brendan Loper, Christian Sampson, Sarah Szczesny, SPEEDBOAT, Benjamin L. Turner, Brent Wadden, Kemar Keanu Wynter, and Isabel Yellin.
